STEP ONE
Roughly drawn sketch. Playing around with composition and design of the figures.

STEP TWO
Beginning stage of black and white value, while still experimenting with the design of the figures.

STEP THREE
The pose, design, and placement of the figures are changed to fit the composition better.

STEP FOUR
Figures are still being worked on for the sake of composition, while trying to maintain the importance of value.

STEP FIVE
A further development from the last stage overall. Overall value still needs a lot more work. Position of the angel changed to fit along the golden spiral.

STEP SIX
Particle effects at work now that figures are well enough established. Highlights being pulled out to read stronger.

STEP SEVEN
After many tweaking and refinement, the black and white value is finally complete. The angel has been darkened accordingly to the light source and to have her gaze read a lot stronger.

STEP EIGHT
Glaze of base color applied.

STEP NINE
Slowly building up color on each individual figures.

STEP TEN
Illustration at its near completion after a lot of coloring. Refinement needed to clarify the balance between soft and hard edges.

STEP ELEVEN
Final illustration after refinement.
